At least two tornadoes spun through the Atlanta and Macon areas early Sunday morning, leaving a trail of destroyed homes, tens of thousands without electricity and at least one death, authorities said.
One tornado made an initial touchdown at about 5:10 a.m. in northeast Clayton County, just east of I-675 near the Henry County line, according to a preliminary determination by the National Weather Service.
The twister moved east into Henry, causing sporadic tree damage in that county, and then into Rockdale and Newton counties before lifting near Ga. 20, said Weather Service meteorologist Verona Murrell said.

 | Zebra found on I-75 still in bad shape |
The baby zebra found injured along I-75 near Locust Grove last week is healing, but he has a long way to go to fully recover, his new keepers say.
"He's doing well physically, but he's very frightened and traumatized," said Diane Smith, assistant to the director at Noah's Ark, the rescue and rehabilitation center in Locust Grove that retrieved the zebra April 8.
Smith said they now believe the zebra, estimated to be only two to three months old, was probably being transported with his mother when he fell from a truck or trailer. When found, he had a severe injury in his pelvic area, leading veterinarians to believe he also may have then been hit by another vehicle.

 | Questions of the week |
Lt. Steve:
I was driving up 400 and a cop stopped me for speeding. There was traffic to my right so I pulled over to the left against the median wall. The officer was agitated with me and I didn't like his attitude. I couldn't pull over to the right because of the traffic. What should I have done? Was I dumb to do that?
Dear Dummy:
Having been there myself, I'm guessing the officer was a bit on the agitated side knowing that he was about to be run over. The only thing that would fit in that lane is a clown car so I'm sure half of yours and the cop's car, which of course is behind yours and will be the first one hit, was sticking out there to be hit by one of our fine drivers who just may be on his or her cell phone, texting something insignificant that could have waited.
