 | Henry man's body found on boat |
A 45-year-old McDonough man was found dead in his boat Wednesday afternoon at Lake Lanier.
Preliminary investigation indicated the man died from an accidental carbon monoxide poisoning, according to Maj. Jeff Strickland of the Hall County Sheriff's Department. Police did not immediately release the man's name, pending notification of his next of kin.
The man reportedly took his cabin cruiser Tuesday night to the service dock at the Holiday Marina for repair. The marina is off Holiday Road in Buford.

 | Police seek Stockbridge jewelry store robber |
Henry County police are looking for an armed man caught on surveillance tape Thursday robbing a Stockbridge jewelry store.
Capt. Jason Bolton said the man fled on foot after taking jewelry, two pistols and cash from Parkway Jewelers on Eagle's Landing Parkway.
The suspect as seen on the tape is a black male, with a thin muscular build, wearing a white tank top, black pants with a patch on the rear right pocket, white sneakers, black cap with a sticker on the bill and a logo on the front and back, and a neck chain, Bolton said. Bolton said the suspect is about 20 years old and stands about 6 feet tall.

 | Henry police search for teen runaway |
Henry County police are looking for a teenage runaway who escaped custody during a gas stop.
Capt. Jason Bolton said Samantha McMullen, 14, was in the custody of Florida child services June 5 because of a prior runaway incident when she escaped during a refueling stop in McDonough.
McMullen, who has hazel eyes, may have dyed her hair black. She is white, 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds, police said.

 | Henry officer honored for saving drowning toddler |
A Henry County police officer was honored by a local organization for saving the life of a drowning toddler.
Detective Sgt. Joey Smith was given a heroism award by the Sons of the American Revolution, Capt. Jason Bolton said.
Smith saved a 2-year-old girl from drowning Aug. 25, Bolton said. Smith was off duty and attending an outdoor event when the child fell into the pool.

 | Henry man charged in child porn case |
A Stockbridge man was charged with 20 counts of sexual exploitation of children after authorities found child pornography in his home, Henry County police reported.
Police Capt. Jason Bolton said Charles Kimberly Long, 53, of Woodland Trace is also charged with possession of methamphetamines and marijuana. Long's girlfriend, Karen Jane Hurst, 45, who shares the home, also faces drug charges, Bolton said.
Bolton said the case originated with a tip from Illinois detectives about possible child pornography in Long's home.

 | 130 mph tornado hit Clayton, damaging 143 houses |
At least two tornadoes spun through the Atlanta and Macon areas early Sunday morning, leaving a trail of destroyed homes, tens of thousands without electricity and at least one death, authorities said.
One tornado made an initial touchdown at about 5:10 a.m. in northeast Clayton County, just east of I-675 near the Henry County line, according to a preliminary determination by the National Weather Service.
The twister moved east into Henry, causing sporadic tree damage in that county, and then into Rockdale and Newton counties before lifting near Ga. 20, said Weather Service meteorologist Verona Murrell said.

 | Clem Fortner, 90, magical police officer, inspired young performers |
Clem H. Fortner's was a life of gun battles, high-speed chases and illusion.
He spent 26 years as an Atlanta police officer, another 20 as an investigator for the public defender's office, and a lifetime entertaining with magic shows, ventriloquist acts and mentalism, or making predictions.
Mr. Fortner, an imposing 6 feet, 5 inches tall and wearing a size 14 shoe, was known in the law enforcement and magic worlds as "Foots" and performed as "Fortner the Merry Magician."

 | GBI probes Henry County inmate death |
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into an apparent suicide at the Henry County Jail.
Authorities say 46-year-old Jeffrey Alan Thomas was found dead Sunday night in an isolation cell. Authorities have not released the cause of death.
GBI spokesman John Bankhead says investigators have found no evidence of foul play in Thomas' death.

 | Three Conyers high school students killed in wreck |
Three young Conyers men were killed when their car ran off the road and crashed in Henry County, and it was hours before the wreck was discovered around midday Saturday, police said.
Naijah Grover, 17, Derron Anderson, 18, and Torrence Blount, 20, were discovered dead in Grover's Dodge Neon just off of Ga. 20 and Wilder Way, police said. All were students at Salem High School in Conyers.
Henry County police spokesman Capt. Jason Bolton said the accident apparently happened late Friday night or early Saturday morning.

 | Police respond to home invasion, arrest victims for drugs |
Henry County police are looking for two armed men in connection with a home invasion robbery at a house where 40 pounds of marijuana was later found.
Capt. Jason Bolton said four people were arrested on drug charges at the Tasha Circle home in Ellenwood Tuesday when police responded to the invasion.
Bolton said Ashley Elise Smith, 20, Candiace Chivonne Smith, 22, Darren Deyon Buice, 22, and Jonathan Kidron Brown, 26, were arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana.
